 Long Description:
From the Better Business Bureau: ACF reports operations in about 40 countries. Its nutritional programs center on the evaluation of nutritional needs, the treatment and prevention of malnutrition, technical training and support for local staff, and capacity building with national ministries and government structures. ACF’s water, sanitation and hygiene program involves extending water and sanitation services to communities faced with water scarcity, unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. The organization also provides water to affected communities during emergencies, decontaminates wells and installs hand pumps. Furthermore, it builds latrines and bathhouses as well as aims to keep communities hygienic through basic sanitation infrastructure. ACF also operates a health and advocacy program. Through its health program, it sets up a mother and child health center that provides immunization and pre/post-natal care. Its public health programs train medical staff, provide medicine, monitor and control epidemics, and rehabilitate clinics. ACF’s advocacy program include strategies that enable it to alert, inform, and influence decision-makers and political actors by packaging and delivering its field expertise, analysis, and recommendations to key stakeholders—publicly or confidentially, depending on the sensitivity of the context.
